DACHSER Luxembourg celebrates 10-year anniversary
The DACHSER branch in Grevenmacher, Luxembourg, is celebrating its tenth anniversary. The logistics service provider opened its branch in Luxembourg on February 7, 2011.
DACHSER Luxembourg Sàrl is located in Grevenmacher, between Trier, Germany and Luxembourg City. Due to this geographical location, the branch is directly linked to DACHSER’s Eurohubs in Überherrn (Germany). This allows customers to be seamlessly connected with DACHSER’s European network and the rest of the world.
Continuous growth
Over the past ten years the branch has experienced steady growth. When it opened, DACHSER Grevenmacher had 18 employees in its 2,700 m² transit terminal and 600 m² of office space. Now the branch has expanded to 4,600 m² and 52 employees. In 2019, DACHSER’s Luxembourg branch generated annual revenue of EUR 15 million, handling 214,300 shipments weighing 74,700 metric tons.
Initially, Grevenmacher was connected to the global network as a satellite location of DACHSERin Überherrn in Germany. In 2013, Aat van der Meer, Managing Director DACHSER Benelux, was appointed Country Manager for DACHSER Luxembourg, bringing Benelux entirely under his management. From that point on, DACHSER Grevenmacher became a fully independent branch within DACHSER Benelux. “Luxembourg is a strategically important location for the Benelux countries. With the decision to put Benelux under one management, we represent the three countries as one,” Van der Meer says. “In addition, Luxembourg is very international in terms of language, and the Benelux umbrella has also contributed to the very positive development of the European business through its multilingualism.”
In 2016, Janine Weber was appointed branch manager of DACHSER Luxembourg. Weber attaches great importance to communication: “Our management style is centered on commitment, openness, and transparency. For me it is very important to be constantly in contact and exchanging information with all employees in our branch, whether in the office or in the warehouse.”
Van der Meer looks back on the past years with satisfaction. “In recent years, the team in Luxembourg has shown its logistical expertise and flexibility,” he says, adding: “DACHSER is characterized by the strength of the bond between employees, just like in a family, and I am very proud of our DACHSER family in Grevenmacher. Their skills and commitment drove the growth and success of the branch.”
