DACHSER crowns winners of “Logistics Masters” at the BVL Conference
DACHSER has honored the winners of Logistics Masters, Germany’s largest competition for students, for the first time at the BVL Conference. Joris Beckmann from the Technische Universität Braunschweig won in the Bachelor’s category, while Michael Panczyk from Hamburg University of Technology earned first place among the Master’s candidates. DHBW Mannheim, Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, and the University of Duisburg-Essen were recognized as the best institutions of higher education.
Since this year’s “Logistics Masters” began in January, more than 1,500 students from German-speaking countries have answered a total of 70 challenging questions about the logistics industry. “The competition encouraged students to channel their enthusiasm and stamina into putting their logistics knowledge to the test,” says DACHSER CEO, Bernhard Simon. “It’s all about being open to the process of transferring knowledge and turning challenges into solutions.” Representatives from the three winning universities were also honored in Berlin. DHBW Mannheim was named the best cooperative state university/vocational academy, Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences the best technical university, and the University of Duisburg-Essen the best university overall.
To win the Logistics Masters, you need a lot of specialized knowledge, a great deal of enthusiasm, but also a little bit of luck.

Participating in the competition for the first time, both students came away winners.
A lot of specialized knowledge
Started by DACHSER and VerkehrsRundschau – the weekly magazine for freight forwarding, transport, and logistics – the competition awarded the two first-place finishers prize money totaling EUR 10,000. “To win the Logistics Masters, you need a lot of specialized knowledge, a great deal of enthusiasm, but also a little bit of luck. Our two prizewinners seem to have more than enough of all of these,” says Simon. Since the start of the competition in 2005, over 10,000 students have participated in the Logistics Masters, and over 70 logistics professors from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland have contributed challenging master-level questions. DACHSER has sponsored the competition since its inception.
