DACHSER has just launched its Corporate IT Hub Portugal in the city of Porto. The initially small team will gradually grow and move to larger premises at the beginning of the second quarter of 2025. Around 100 IT positions are to be filled in Porto by the end of 2026.

The Corporate IT hub in Porto will complement the existing IT locations in Germany, France, Spain, Hong Kong, and the US. At these sites, about 750 IT specialists are currently developing and optimizing DACHSER’s integrated core systems for transport and warehouse management, ensuring IT security, and driving forward the implementation of the logistics provider’s digitalization strategy. Closely incorporated into the company’s IT structure, the new Corporate IT hub will play a key role in the development of innovative digital solutions to optimize DACHSER’s logistics services.

We’re strengthening our digital capabilities and supporting the future growth of the company

“We’ve relied on tightly integrated systems and transparent data exchange for many years. In today’s dynamic and volatile business environment, however, we need to digitalize even faster and more thoroughly so we can meet the increasing demands for transparency, adaptability, security, efficient use of resources and, last but not least, sustainability,” explains Stefan Hohm, Chief Development Officer (CDO) at DACHSER. “With the Corporate IT hub in Portugal, we’re strengthening our digital capabilities and supporting the future growth of the company. To achieve our goal of becoming the most integrated logistics provider worldwide, we must also become the most digitalized logistics provider.”

High level of innovation and cybersecurity expertise

“The city of Porto has several competitive advantages, starting with its international environment, which is very technology oriented. Porto offers a high level of innovation and cybersecurity expertise and offers access to excellent IT talent, partly due to its proximity to several universities. It is definitely on its way to becoming one of the most important technology centers in Europe,” says Ralf Morawietz, Corporate Director IT (CIO) at DACHSER, explaining the decision to choose Porto as DACHSER’s second-largest Corporate IT location after Kempten in southern Germany’s Allgäu region.
DACHSER has been active in Portugal since 1999 with transportation and contract logistics services in overland transport as well as in air and sea freight. The company already employs some 200 people at six locations there.
