DACHSER expands its branch near Prague
DACHSER Czech Republic is expanding its branch in Kladno, northwest of Prague, by adding a new transshipment hall and administrative offices. The logistics provider is planning an investment of almost EUR 12.6 million. The constructions will start in July 2023, with completion expected in mid-2024. The construction of the additional 4,000 m2 hall will create what is currently the most modern and largest DACHSER terminal for groupage handling in the Czech Republic.
The new DACHSER Czech Republic location expands the existing branch in the industrial area of Kladno. The two-story administrative building will have modern office and recreation rooms on an area of 1,340 m2. After completion, the transshipment terminal will cover 8,000 m² and be equipped with a total of 74 loading gates. The outdoor logistics areas will also be significantly enlarged. The DACHSER site will offer a total of 18,500 m² of transshipment area with 90 loading gates and almost 4,500 m² of administrative space.
Sustainable technologies are being used in the construction in line with the so-called DACHSER Standard, which applies to all of the company's own buildings throughout Europe. For example, a photovoltaic system will be installed on the roof of the new building, which will supply energy for the operation of the site, the charging of handling vehicles, and e-charging stations for trucks and company vehicles, among other things.
Investment in the future
"The expansion of the Kladno branch meets our needs and those of our customers. It enables us to handle groupage shipments throughout Europe even faster and more efficiently," says Jan Pihar, Managing Director European Logistics DACHSER Czech Republic. "We designed the entire facility as a modern project with future logistics requirements in mind and in line with our sustainability goals."
