On August 15, 2024, the award was presented by the Global Supply Chain Institute of the University of Southern California (USC), one of the leading logistics research institutions in the United States. Nick Vyas, Executive Director, explains: “DACHSER, through their operations excellence and continued focus on research and best practices has further enhanced their operations to promote sustainability. This award exemplifies their leadership in the supply chain industry. “

The award was accepted by Daniel Egenter, General Manager West Coast, and Andre Kranke, Head of Corporate Research & Development, who is responsible for all climate protection activities at DACHSER.

“Sustainability is a topic that is also becoming increasingly important in the United States, even if Europe is certainly leading the way here. However, at DACHSER, we already offer our US customers the opportunity to actively reduce CO2 emissions in air and sea freight by using Sustainable Fuels,” says Daniel Egenter.

We are delighted to receive this award, and it underlines our commitment to continue working on climate protection – even if it is a long way full of challenges to achieve the goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions in logistics

Long-term climate protection strategy

With a focus on efficiency, innovation and integrative responsibility, DACHSER is pursuing a long-term climate protection strategy and is driving the change towards more sustainable logistics together with customers and partners. The company has been using battery-powered electric vehicles since 2018, for example within the sustainable city delivery concept “DACHSER Emission-Free Delivery”. The vehicle fleet with alternative drive systems is constantly being expanded on both short- and long-haul routes. Over 90 zero-emission vehicles are now on the road for DACHSER in Europe.

Next to this, DACHSER is researching and testing the complex interaction and use of zero-emission technologies as well as intelligent electricity and load management in so-called e-mobility sites at the branches in Malsch near Karlsruhe, Hamburg and Freiburg.
