DACHSER increases warehouse capacity in the Leipzig area

The logistics service provider is expanding its logistics space in the Leipzig-Halle area with a new warehouse. The new facility with around 25,000 pallet spaces will go into operation at the beginning of 2025.

The multi-user warehouse, which is currently under construction, is located in the Landsberg industrial park, i.e. in the neighborhood of the DACHSER Logistics Center Leipzig/Halle. On a total area of 17,200 square meters, DACHSER will store industrial and consumer goods as well as food goods for its customers. In addition to warehousing and transportation, various logistics services will be provided, such as order picking or special value-added services.

The building has three different temperature zones and is therefore suitable for products that need to be stored between +2 and +7 degrees in the fresh food area, but also between +12 and +18 degrees or at room temperature. "We have been a reliable logistics partner for over 30 years, for example for the chocolate and confectionery industry in the region," says Matthias Ziegenhagen, General Manager of the Leipzig/Halle Logistics Center in Landsberg. "Our long-standing customers from this segment value our logistics expertise in handling their products. The proportion of our stored goods from the chocolate sector is around 30 percent."

Central location and good infrastructure connections

But DACHSER in Landsberg is also a reliable logistics partner for companies in the industrial goods sector thanks to its central location in the Leipzig-Halle conurbation. The new warehouse is located in the immediate vicinity of DACHSER's Leipzig/Halle Logistics Center and is easily accessible via the A9 and A14 motorways. DACHSER transports the goods from Landsberg throughout Germany and Europe. Leipzig/Halle Airport is around 25 kilometers away, so there is also access to global markets.

The new facility is being built in accordance with the latest safety and environmental standards and is equipped with a photovoltaic system on the roof, among other things. It has state-of-the-art technological equipment including IT-based technology. Driverless transport vehicles for full-pallet movements are in use, and the facility also has LED lighting and connections for charging trucks and employees' electric cars. "By expanding our logistics center with the new warehouse, we are contributing to regional economic development and also creating new jobs in the region," says Matthias Ziegenhagen.
