Over 1,400 students and around 140 universities took part in the “Logistik Masters” competition, which was started by DACHSER and the trade journal VerkehrsRundschau. They put their knowledge about logistics to the test by answering 70 questions. Winners received prize money totaling EUR 10,000. “Perseverance and ambition, along with a good deal of technical knowledge, of course, are what distinguish the contestants,” says Bernard Simon, CEO of DACHSER. “These young people are going above and beyond the basic requirements of universities in their enthusiasm for logistics. The industry needs this level of excitement.” In addition to the best bachelor’s and master’s students, professors from the three winning universities were also recognized at the German Logistics Congress.

Katharina Ewald (23) and Denis Karlin (20) received their awards in Berlin from Dr. Andreas Froschmayer, Corporate Director Corporate Development, Strategy & PR at DACHSER, and Gerhard Grünig, editor-in-chief of VerkehrsRundschau. Both prizewinners were participating in the competition for the first time.

Topic of the award

The awards were presented as part of the special topic “Transformation of Business Models,” in which Dr. Andreas Froschmayer from DACHSER took part with a talk on “Integrated business models and logistics – the next phase of digitalization.”

Started by DACHSER and VerkehrsRundschau – the weekly magazine for freight forwarding, transport, and logistics – the competition awarded the two winners prize money totaling EUR 10,000. Since the start of the competition in 2005, over 12,000 students have participated in the Logistik Masters, and over 70 logistics professors from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland have contributed challenging master-level questions.
