DACHSER supplies French hospitals with needed medical supplies

DACHSER Air & Sea Logistics organized a transport of emergency medical supplies from Shanghai, China, for hospitals in France.

DACHSER organized a transport of emergency medical supplies from China for hospitals in France.

The logistics provider chartered an Antonov AN-124, one of the largest freight aircraft in the world, to fly medical items from Asia to Europe. These items included personal protective equipment, protective gloves, and ten million surgical masks. Early in the morning, the transporter landed on time at Nantes Atlantique airport, where DACHSER trucks and ground handling staff were already waiting at the terminal. Once the Antonov had arrived, the urgently needed equipment was loaded onto the trucks and distributed throughout France via the DACHSER Road Logistics network.

DACHSER’s contingency charter program plan

Over the coming weeks, DACHSER will be increasing the number of charter flights from China to Europe to cope with the limited air freight capacity restricted by the global pandemic. “In times such as these, we as a logistics provider can help ensure the situation improves as soon as possible,” says Timo Stroh, Head of Global Air Freight at DACHSER. “We are driven and inspired to seize every opportunity here, so that we can work with our partners to do our part.”
