DACHSER supports earthquake emergency aid
DACHSER makes a corporate donation of 50,000 euros to the children's charity terre des hommes for emergency disaster relief in Turkey and Syria.
The earthquake in the Turkish-Syrian border region has caused immeasurable suffering. Despite the desperate efforts of rescue workers and survivors, many people have died, houses have been destroyed or are uninhabitable.
"Our thoughts are with the people in the disaster area who have lost relatives and friends and who are literally facing nothing economically. Acute aid in times of need is now our first priority" says Burkhard Eling, CEO at DACHSER.
DACHSER is therefore immediately donating 50,000 euros to terre des hommes' emergency disaster relief. „Support to life” the Turkish partner organization of terre des hommes is providing those in need with tents and blankets, warm clothing, food, clean drinking water, and medicines. One focus here is urgently needed baby food, but blankets, heaters, diapers and medicines are also distributed locally. Tents will support families in transition so they are not exposed to the cold freely. On the other hand, families are brought out of the earthquake areas, as public transport has come to a complete standstill.
The earthquake has caused immeasurable suffering
DACHSER has been active in Turkey itself for over ten years. The two business segments ASL and Road Logistics employ a total of 75 staff, all of whom are fortunately unharmed and safe. Many of them are however affected and touched by the disaster if they have family, friends or acquaintances living in the disaster area. This also applies to many DACHSER employees with roots in Turkey or Syria.
