DACHSER to offer charters again for peak season
To create additional capacity during the peak season in the fall, logistics provider DACHSER is once again offering a premium flight between Asia and Europe. Starting in mid-October, the charter will fly the Frankfurt–Shanghai–Frankfurt route once a week.
Production is gradually recovering and demand for air freight is rising from month to month, yet there is still too little cargo space available due to the reduced passenger flight volume. In light of this situation, the DACHSER Air & Sea Logistics team expects a strong peak season in the fourth quarter of the year with high demand for air freight capacity.
“We assume that the peak season in air freight will focus on products from Asia, especially from China and Hong Kong,” says Timo Stroh, Head of Global Air Freight at DACHSER. “We expect demand to peak from mid-October to December, especially from Asia, where industry is really picking up speed again.” To meet this market demand, DACHSER is again offering a dedicated premium charter this fall. As of mid-October, a Boeing 747-400 will be flying once a week as a full charter between Frankfurt and Shanghai. DACHSER handles Europe-wide distribution via the Frankfurt Import Gateway.
Premium product under current market conditions
This is the third time DACHSER Air & Sea Logistics is running this project. Fixed transit times make the service reliable and enable customers to plan ahead. By combining its road and air & sea logistics networks, DACHSER is able to respond quickly to changing route situations in Europe and accelerate the pickup and delivery processes. “With this global network capability, we are well prepared for the challenges of the ‘new normal’ and can offer our customers a robust and reliable capacity solution under current market conditions,” Stroh says.
