Disruptions at European airports

An increased frequency of flights in Europe has resulted in congestions at airports, particularly at Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Paris. Furthermore for Paris CDG airport, strikes have been announced for the coming weekend. DACHSER Air & Sea Logistics is responding to the situations daily.

As previously reported in the press, major European airports are currently experiencing some operational challenges. An increased frequency of flights in Europe during the holiday season has resulted in congestions at airports due to a shortage of ground handling staff, particularly at Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Paris.

In Frankfurt, the airline partners of DACHSER are already facing delays and flight cancellations. The impacts on DACHSER are still limited so far and delays are more likely to occur on the import side. To mitigate the situation, some airlines' freighter flights are being diverted to alternative airports in Europe. DACHSER Air & Sea Logistics is responding to the situation daily by shifting some console shipments to other European airports.

For Paris CDG airport, strikes have been announced for the coming weekend, with limited impact on the cargo business. Operational disruptions also occur at Amsterdam airport, but mainly affect intra-European passenger flights.

Overall, delays in European air cargo traffic are to be expected over the next few weeks, but DACHSER can offer a reliable and resilient network and provides alternative solutions if necessary.

DACHSER will continue to monitor the situation and keep customers informed of further developments accordingly. The local contacts at the DACHSER branches will be available to answer any questions.
