Logistics for top air quality
Air conditioners, heat pumps or air purifiers - technologies for indoor air quality can be found in private homes and commercial properties. The manufacturer Daikin, based in Japan, has relied on DACHSER for the logistics of its equipment for over five years. Now the collaboration between the two companies reached the next level - with a new warehouse location in Ingolstadt, Bavaria.
From Japan to the world: Founded in Japan in 1924, Daikin is now one of the leading suppliers in the fields of heating, air conditioning, ventilation, air purification and refrigeration - with locations worldwide. And a true innovation leader to boot: as early as 1936, Daikin equipped trains in Japan with air conditioning systems - a major innovation for the time. Another followed in the late 1960s, when the company introduced the first air conditioning system based on heat pump technology. Since then, Daikin considers itself as a pioneer and innovation leader in the field of air conditioning technology. Today, the manufacturer offers innovative technologies for indoor air quality and distributes them worldwide. Air conditioners, heat pumps, air purifiers or ventilation systems - these devices can be found in private households or commercial and industrial premises.
Associated with the innovation path is also a strong growth. In the 1970s, Daikin opened a branch in Belgium, followed by expansion in the 1990s with further branches and the establishment of subsidiaries in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In 1998, Daikin opened a subsidiary in Unterschleissheim near Munich, Germany, operating as DAIKIN Airconditioning Germany, selling high-quality, energy-efficient heating systems, heat pumps, and air conditioning systems for the residential, commercial, and industrial markets. Germany has since become an important location for research and development work as well as the production of high-quality heating and air-conditioning solutions.
Daikin has been working with DACHSER in Munich since 2017. As a trusted logistics partner, DACHSER takes care of warehousing and distribution of the products from Unterschleissheim to Daikin's customers on the German market - employing the DACHSER groupage network. The logistics services for Daikin are handled by DACHSER Munich. The customer is managed by DACHSER’s Corporate Key Account Management.
Growing with the logistics partner
Now the cooperation between Daikin and DACHSER has reached the next level: in Ingolstadt, the two companies recently opened a warehouse that provides Daikin with space for an initial 16.900 pallets. The building is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and logistics solutions to improve order processing. This enables Daikin to reduce both delivery times and costs. The new warehouse is built according to high efficiency standards. It uses heat pumps and has solar panels installed on the roof. Dachser ist also using lithium-ion forklift trucks in the warehouse.
The new facility plays a key role in Daikin's further growth strategy in Germany. And the potential is far from exhausted: to be prepared for the future capacity requirements of the customer, the facility has possibilities for extension.
A look at Australia and New Zealand shows that DACHSER is a reliable logistics partner on a global level: DACHSER is also working for Daikin there. So nothing stands in the way of joint growth at the global level, too.
