SynLOG chooses DACHSER
SynLOG, the logistics initiative created jointly by the producers’ association Herstellerverband Haus & Garten and the industry group Industrieverband Garten (IVG), has extended its service partnership with DACHSER by another two years.
As part of a reorientation effort, the supplier cooperative is now relying exclusively on DACHSER as its partner in groupage logistics for its members.
As a purchasing cooperative, SynLOG’s goal is to achieve bundling effects in supplier logistics and thereby strengthen the market position of the associations’ firms.
Markus Schering, head of SynLOG“As a purchasing cooperative, SynLOG’s goal is to achieve bundling effects in supplier logistics and thereby strengthen the market position of the associations’ firms,” explains Markus Schering, head of SynLOG. “So we are now focusing on a single industry provider to ensure full compliance with groupage systems. For us, DACHSER is a long-standing partner that combines an extremely broad market presence with a strategic focus on value-added services like fulfillment and merchandising.”
Ralf Meistes, Department Head DACHSER DIY-Logistics, says, “We’re thrilled that SynLOG is continuing its successful twenty-year partnership with DACHSER and has now chosen us to be its exclusive groupage partner. Each year DACHSER transports around 4.3 million home improvement center shipments and supplies 18,000 DIY outlets throughout Europe within strictly defined time slots. This reduces ramp contacts and optimizes the flow of goods. Producers enjoy the high quality and certainty of uniform delivery performance for their retail customers throughout Europe.”
DACHSER DIY-Logistics: full service for complex supply chains
With DACHSER DIY-Logistics, the logistics company has created a specialized industry solution that is custom-made for the growing requirements of the garden and home improvement industry where distribution channels are becoming more varied, shipments are being sent in increasingly smaller batches, and cost pressures are rising overall. To meet this challenge, the logistics provider is combining its standardized core services in the groupage network—transport, warehousing, value-added services, and integrated IT solutions—with on-demand service elements for the DIY industry. The DACHSER DIY-Logistics pipeline channels goods continuously and on demand from the supplier to the point of sale and, if necessary, back again. This keeps all products available in the market at all times and avoids supply gaps. In addition, DACHSER secures direct supply of system-conforming goods to end customers from the DIY and garden segment. This helps customers implement omni-channel distribution concepts. A centralized team of industry experts is ready to advise the DACHSER branches in their relations with producers and retail outlets.
