"Things need to get moving now"

After the elections in Germany, companies expect planning security and reliability, but above all, they also expect quick and consistent action. Thoughts from DACHSER CEO Burkhard Eling.

Last Sunday, Germany elected a new "Bundestag". The new government will have to act quickly and consistently: It must solve acute economic and social problems and give companies the planning security they urgently need for investments. If it is successful, this will stimulate the economy in Germany and Europe and get it moving.

We logistics experts know very well what it means to get things moving - and to keep them moving. Our logistics network doesn't just transport goods and information. It connects people, companies and ideas all over the world. As a company whose success story is closely linked to the development of the European internal market, we know that we can only be strong together in Europe and keep things moving: Only together we are strong in Europe and in the world.

Respect and tolerance as cornerstones of democracy

Shortly after the elections, we must be aware that democracy is a precious commodity. And not only that: it is the basis of our economic success. Why? Because respect, tolerance and the ability to approach each other again and again are both the cornerstones of democracy and elementary principles of economic activity.

Acting democratically means remaining competitive in a closely networked, globalized world in which everything is connected to everything else. We logisticians experience the power that arises from this diversity on a daily basis. Global supply chains need freedom, stability and reliability. This is something we should work on together every day.
