DACHSER strengthens its global network for Life Science and Healthcare Logistics
Since the beginning of January, further locations in DACHSER's global network have been certified according to GDP (Good Distribution Practice). Existing certifications were renewed in audits. This means that the logistics provider meets the high requirements for the transportation of pharmaceutical products at locations in North and South America, Europe and Asia.
Making dynamic adjustments to logistics networks
In October 2024, two authors —Christian Kille, Professor of Retail Logistics and Operations Management at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt (THWS), and Andreas Backhaus, a freelance lecturer—published a study entitled “Chemical logistics on the move” (in German), which was supported by DACHSER Chem Logistics. Their study analyzed the current and future challenges and opportunities for chemical logistics in Germany and concluded with six recommendations for action. Now follows the double interview with author Christian Kille and Michael Kriegel, Department Head DACHSER Chem Logistics, to intensify the recommendations and to learn about the opportunities that arise from their practical implementation.
DACHSER honored again for successful app community
DACHSER has once again been honored with the "Citizen Development Empowerment Award". With this award, smapOne AG honours the logistics service provider's success in building a global community of employees who build their own applications without programming knowledge and thus drive digitalization within the company.
DACHSER and Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft expand research partnership
Global logistics provider DACHSER has expanded its research partnership with the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft effective February 1, 2025. As part of the DACHSER Enterprise Lab, which has been bringing science and logistics practice together in mixed innovation teams since 2017, the family-owned company is now cooperating with both the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics IML in Dortmund and the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems IAIS in Sankt Augustin, near Bonn.
Twelve new electric trucks for long-haul routes in the DACHSER network
The e-truck fleet in the DACHSER network is growing: twelve Mercedes-Benz eActros 600s were delivered to the German-Austrian subsidiary Brummer Logistik in mid-December. The vehicles, which have a range of around 500 kilometers, will be used for regional and long-distance food transport.
Warehouse efficiency through automation and expertise
"The future of warehousing" is the motto of DACHSER's presentation at LogiMAT 2025, which takes place in Stuttgart from March 11 to 13. At stand C02 in hall 7, the logistics service provider will show how customized, integrated and automated solutions can take supply chains to the next level of efficiency.
DACHSER takes control of joint venture in Finland
On January 15, DACHSER acquired all the shares in its Finnish joint venture, DACHSER Finland Oy. This step strengthens the logistics provider’s overland transport network in Northern Europe.
DACHSER’s 100th fully electric truck enters service in food logistics distribution
Global logistics provider DACHSER has put its 100th electric truck with a total weight of more than 3.5 metric tons into service. The 16-ton Volvo FL Electric with a refrigerated body will commence deliveries of fresh food to Hamburg and the surrounding area with immediate effect.
Stefan Behrendt heads DACHSER Food Logistics
Stefan Behrendt (47) took over responsibility for DACHSER Food Logistics on January 1, 2025. He succeeds COO Road Logistics Alexander Tonn, who had also held the position of Managing Director Food Logistics since January 1, 2024.
Thomas Hiemer is the new Chief Financial Officer at DACHSER
Thomas Hiemer became Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at logistics provider DACHSER on January 1, 2025. As a member of the Executive Board, he is responsible for Finance, Controlling, Tax & Treasury (FCT). Hiemer took over from DACHSER CEO Burkhard Eling, who had also headed this executive unit for the past 18 months.
DACHSER builds new logistics center in Zaragoza, Spain
DACHSER is investing 14 million euros in the expansion of its logistics capacities in north-eastern Spain. The new building in Zaragoza is scheduled to open at the beginning of 2026.

H₂ pioneer in practice
At its Magdeburg branch, DACHSER has been using a heavy-duty truck with hydrogen fuel-cell technology for more than a year and a half. With zero local emissions, the truck proves its suitability for regular use in short- and long-distance transport every day in two-shift operation.
